Early on in her legal career it was clear to Kris that a hectic law office—something she fondly dubbed as “organized chaos” back in 1996—would benefit from quality paralegal support. Having witnessed elevated stress levels and low morale in private practice offices across multiple states and jurisdictions, it became clear to her that even the toughest, battle-hardened attorneys could crack when the pressure of tight deadlines and unmanageable workloads became too great. But the question faced by Kris— an entrepreneurial-minded, career military spouse, and caring mom—was how she could apply her considerable legal skills in helping overworked law offices while still maintaining the mobility and flexibility she needed in her own life.

The question simmered within her as Kris continued to build her career. Her first business, KC Transcriptions, a part-time legal and business transcription company, quickly earned her work with an established Fortune 500 company. After relocating to California, Kris expanded her services to include legal support. Then, after a contract offered her a permanent position in the public sector, she soon began work as a legal analyst charged with overseeing more than 1,200 legal matters.

Expecting a monumental challenge, Kris was pleasantly surprised when the organization and atmosphere of a large legal department opened her eyes to a whole different way of practicing law. Suddenly, the “high-stress, chaotic” mentality of private practice was eliminated by the legal department’s overflow system, which made substantial workloads manageable. Stress was low and morale was high. In fact, the overall experience had a profoundly positive influence on her.

Suddenly the answer hit her like a default judgment…Paralegal Services for Attorneys!

Today, Kris has more than 15 years' experience in the legal field and has dedicated several of those to providing expert paralegal services to overworked law offices. In addition to her advanced paralegal certification, she holds a Bachelor’s Degree in both [para]legal studies and psychology from the University of Maryland University College, and a paralegal certificate—all summa cum laude—and continues to take classes and attend seminars to improve her knowledge and skills.

In addition to published articles for publications such as Attorney at Law Magazine, San Diego Paralegal Association’s Precedent§, Legal Outsourcing Journal, and The Legal Connection, Kris has been profiled and interviewed in several publications including:

  • The Professional Paralegal, A Guide to Finding a Job and Career Success
  • Law Crossing
  • The Carolina Paralegal News
  • The Paralegal Mentor Newsletter
  • The Virtual Paralegal Newsletter Magazine
